The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested the MD Rajesh Adani of Adani Group on 26th February 2010 in Ahmadabad. He was arrested for wrongly providing information to customs regarding customs duty. It is said that he has saved 50-100 crores by customs evasion duty.
“Adani had in the year 2006-07 imported naptha, a petroleum product, and did not pay customs duty in Goa,” CBI Joint Director (Western Region) Rishiraj Singh said in Mumbai.
The ACB branch has also registered case against nine custom officials.
