541 voters chose not to vote in Raj Panchayat polls‎
As many as 541 voters exercised their right to ‘No vote’ in three-phased Panchayati Raj polls held recently in Rajasthan, an election department official said today.
“Most of such voters (48) are in Surajgarh Panchayat Samiti in Sriganganagar district followed by Bharatpur where 45 voters chose not to cast vote using their right of ‘No vote’,” he said.
“They registered their presence at the polling booths but did not find any suitable candidate so returned back without casting the vote,” the official said.
“None in Jaipur and Doongerpur district went for this option,” he said.
The elections for Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis took place in three phases on January 20, 29 and February 2, respectively, and counting will take place tomorrow, he added.
